Places to Explore
Bergen is a cultural gem—think charming harbor views, rich history, and unbeatable shopping. Take in breathtaking panoramas from the Fløibanen funicular or Mount Ulriken cable car (don’t forget your umbrella; it loves to rain here!).
Ålesund, with its mix of Neoclassical and Gothic charm, is a dream to explore, dotted with cozy cafés and mouthwatering restaurants. As the gateway to the majestic fjords, Ålesund invites you to explore by boat, car, or on foot. Trust us, you’ll want every angle—and every bite along the way is pure perfection.
Alesund & West Coast Fjords
In January 1904, nearly all of Ålesund’s town center was lost to a massive fire, leaving just one house standing. Thanks to KaiserWilhelm’s love for the Norwegian fjords, he played a key role in the city’s rebuilding. The architects, influenced by Germany’s Jugendstil movement, transformed Ålesund with charming three-story pastel buildings adorned with turrets, decorative faces, and intricate details, creating the unique Art Nouveau vibe we adore today.
Strolling through Ålesund feels like wandering a fairytale, with delightful cafes and stunning architecture around every corner. On a sunny day, sailing the surrounding archipelago is a treat—or, for an adrenaline rush, hop on a RIB to Runde Island to spot seals and puffins. Beyond the city, the stunning Nordfjord, Storfjord, and Geirangerfjord offer endless adventures, from gentle hikes to heart-pounding climbs. No matter your path, every view is nothing short of breathtaking.
From stunning seascapes and valleys to winding roads that lead to mirror-still waters, this region offers endless natural and cultural delights.
Bergen &Hordaland
Bergen charms despite its 260 rainy days a year—when the sun shines, explore history, and panoramic hikes via the Fløibanen funicular or Mount Ulriken cable car. Rainy day? Cozy up in chic cafes, Scandi boutiques, and art galleries around Lille Lungegårdsvannet.
Don’t miss the Flåmsdal Valley with scenic hikes and the world-renowned Flåm Railway. Expect roaring waterfalls, tunnels, and breathtaking fjord views. Cap it off with homemade pancakes at Myrdal Station—pure magic!
Northern Norway
Northern Norway sits beneath the Northern Lights Oval, making it a prime spot for witnessing the magical aurora. Tromsø, its capital, lies amid Arctic wilderness with steep mountains, stunning fjords, and some of Norway’s finest seafood. Adventure awaits with husky sledding, reindeer and snowmobile safaris, kayaking, ice-fishing, and hiking.
The breathtaking Lofoten Islands showcase Norway’s dramatic coast. For nature lovers, summer brings endless hiking, biking, and sea kayaking through hidden coves. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot whales, sea eagles, and try their hand at fishing in these rich waters. A true paradise for explorers!
Oslo
Oslo’s cultural highlights include an impressive array of museums and art galleries, with Tjuvholmen island hosting some of the best. Once an agrarian outlier compared to its Scandinavian siblings, Oslo has transformed into Norway’s vibrant, cosmopolitan hub.
Today, you’ll find a buzzing bar and restaurant scene, fabulous shopping on Karl Johan’s Gate, leafy streets lined with cool startups, and striking modern architecture blending seamlessly with its nineteenth-century Neoclassical charm.
